Spokurban: The Lifestyle

When asked to describe my relationship with downtown Spokane (something I am never asked) I like to compare it to the age-old bond between a pimp and his ho. I, of course, being the ho.

It is an eerie correlation when you think about it. Like a ho I walk the streets to get from place to place. I go to work for hours and then my money goes right back into downtown (or my pimp, if you will). Many amenities are provided for me from my pimp including housing, clothing, and protection from the occasional drunken, one legged man or woman.

I guess the comparison gets a bit shaky when I think how downtown has never bitch slapped me for hiding some bling in my g for "mowing a tricks lawn".

At any rate I feel downtown and I share a wonderful co-existence. Within the last seven years I have seen it go from barren to bustling, withered to wired, and loathed to loved. A momentum has been created by thosed who believed Spokane could support a rebirth of itself.

With the advent of the blog I hope to be able to keep up with all that is going on in the world around me, the urban landscape that is downtown Spokane. A lifestyle I like to call Spokurban. I will post as often as I can and will always try to provide the latest news, links to various web resources, and photos of my ventures around.

I am proud to call downtown Spokane my home, my playground, and my backyard.
