The new building will be located at the corner of First and Post, across the street from the Davenport Hotel. Construction has already begun on the building, the only variable is how many stories high it will go, which is dependent on the number of condos that will be bought/leased. I am sure there will also be some changes along the way for what amenities will actually go in. It should be completed by the end of 2006.

When confronted with life's tough questions, like whether or not I should purchase an empty parking lot and put up a multi-million dollar building, I always step back and ask myself WWWWD? (What would Walt Worthy Do?)

Walt and Karen Worthy are the couple who bought the run down Davenport Hotel for 6 million dollars and invested 38 Million dollars into its restoration.
A move that jump started a 28 block area known as the Davenport District, downtowns first arts district.

Their efforts to pump downtown with new life are coming to pass once again with construction beginning on a new downtown high-rise building that will hold a hotel, retail stores, condominiums, a car wash, a restaurant, a grocery store, you name it and they will probably be including it. I guess they couldn't decide what downtown needed the most and decided to include everything, just to be safe.

If enough people are interested in purchasing or leasing the condominiums then the building could reach up to 20 stories high. This will be the first downtown high-rise since 1981.

Needless to say we need more downtown developers to come in and ask themselves WWWWD?
