I will definitely have to check that out. I am always intersted in new publications, especially ones that discuss the local art scene.

Some of you may have read the Remi Recommendation post on The Word, a new bi-monthly publication offering a look into the local arts and entertainment scene. I checked out their 3rd issue and I think it's great. (You know I am a sucker for supporting local efforts) It's definitely filling a gap in the local media and connecting the local arts community in a way that Spokane has not seen before.

I contacted the editors and they provided a website and locations where you can get your very own copy of the free publication. They are currently being stocked in over 100 locations including Boo Radley's, Slick Rock, Four Seasons/Cabin Coffee, Mooty's Pizza, The Spread, and The Satellite. Be sure to support their effort by picking up a copy and spreading the word on The Word.
[Excerpt from The Word] "The Word is a free, locally-owned publication that is distributed at a wide variety of locations throughout Spokane and the surrounding area. Published on the 5th and the 20th of each month, The Word is a reader-friendly arts and entertainment magazine offering original satire, commentary, comics, fiction, and poetry, as well as comprehensive local music and event listings and coverage of Spokanes music, art, and business community. In a general sense, we aim to recreate the media presence of Seattle in our home in Eastern Washington. Our pages are filled with the work of local journalists, graphic designers, photographers, and visual artists who are dedicated to providing for our readers a consistently pleasing and informative periodical."
