[WSU NEWS] "The Nursing Building will be constructed south of the Health Sciences Building near the Academic Center library and classroom building on the WSU Spokane Riverpoint campus.

Projected Sq Ft: 80,000
Earliest possible occupancy: 2008
Predesign/design funding: $3,000,000
Construction phase budget: $31,600,000
Total project budget: $34,600,000

The facility will be within walking distance of major hospital/medical complexes on Spokane's South Hill. It will house distance learning classrooms, nursing practice labs, video production/editing facilities, computer and multimedia laboratories and classrooms, research team space, research laboratories, and offices.

The new nursing building will allow the WSU Intercollegiate College of Nursing to significantly increase the number of students it serves, given sufficient operating funds to support expanded enrollments. The nearby Academic Center building will provide much needed library services, general-purpose classrooms, and student service/support spaces.

The new nursing facility will help keep WSU a leader in preparing nurses to meet the health care needs of the nation’s people. It will expand the knowledge base of health care practice, and enhance WSU Spokane’s strategic emphasis on biomedical research.

Design is anticipated to be complete in Fall 2006, allowing construction to begin soon thereafter. Graham Construction, Spokane, WA is the GC/CM for the project. Integrus Architecture, Spokane, WA is the prime consultant."
